Is My Son a Victim of Internet Addiction?
My son was having trouble at school and he wasn't showing any signs of improvement. The worse he got the more worried I became. When he started to lose his appetite I knew something was seriously wrong. He typically stays in his room on the computer from the time he gets home all the way until he goes back to school. He used to play with his friends and have fun, but I didn't know why he stopped. I stumbled upon an article one day about internet addiction and how it can affect a child's social skills and grades. I decided that my son was probably suffering from internet addiction. The problem was I couldn't just take the computer from him. He used it for school and it was pretty much his only hobby. The blog post I read on internet addiction had an interesting suggestion. They said to use computer monitoring software and referenced a website that reviewed all of the top brands. I decided that it couldn't hurt and I proceeded to the website to check out the reviews. They we're an excellent source of information. Not only did they review products, but they also had information on the different uses you might need this type of software for. It also never occurred to me that my son could be having suicidal thoughts and I would never know about it. I immediately downloaded a free trial. I wasn’t sure which I should choose and I had read an article about webwatcher vs spector pro and based on that I went with WebWatcher because it was more in my price range and seemed like the simplest to use. Since there was a free trial I would have been able to use the software for a little reconnaissance and then uninstall it without ever paying for it, but I decided it would come in handy again in the future and bought it.
